## Verified facts (checked 29 September 2026; source: fujisan-climb.jp unless noted)

- Summit: 3,776 m at Kengamine. UNESCO World Heritage cultural site (Fujisan) since 2013.
- 2026 season: Yoshida and Subashiri 1 Jul to 10 Sep; Gotemba, Fujinomiya and the crater rim 10 Jul to 10 Sep. The season has ENDED;
  the summit trails and huts are closed until summer 2027 (dates not yet announced; usual pattern early July to 10 September).
- Since 2025 all four trails charge a per-person climbing fee, and from 14:00 to 03:00 only climbers with a hut reservation may start.
- Yoshida Trail: gate at the 5th station, daily limit 4,000 (hut guests excluded), optional advance online booking; in 2026 staff check
  winter clothing, two-piece rain gear and proper footwear.
- Shizuoka trails (Subashiri, Gotemba, Fujinomiya): mandatory e-learning and quiz in the FUJI NAVI app before climbing.
- Off-season: trails closed, huts shut; officials strongly advise against climbing. In September 2026 Yamanashi and Shizuoka announced
  PLANNED mandatory notifications and rescue charges or fines for off-season climbers, targeted for autumn 2027 (not yet in force).
- Official trail figures: Yoshida 5th station 2,305 m, about 6h10 up / 3h35 down; Subashiri 2,000 m, 6h25 / 3h20;
  Gotemba 1,440 m, 8h40 / 3h30; Fujinomiya about 2,400 m, 5h10 / 2h40. Crater walk about 1 to 1.5 hours.
- Easiest trail: none is easy; officials point first-timers to Yoshida for its many huts (it is also the busiest).
- In season Fuji is a non-technical hike (no ropes); altitude sickness and cold are the main challenges. A hut night is recommended;
  single-day ascents are possible within gate hours but not recommended. A guide is not required.
- Summit temperature (JMA normals): July mean 5.3 C, August 6.4 C; near freezing before sunrise.
- Cell service in season: docomo 4G on all four trails, huts and summit; 5G on part of the summit (docomo, SoftBank). Poor off-season.
- Best visibility: November to February, mornings (Fuji City observation counts). Summer is the cloudiest time.
- The Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station (about 2,300 m) is reachable by bus most of the year, snow permitting.

## Corrections to claims found elsewhere

- Most 'Mount Fuji tours' are bus day trips to the Five Lakes, not summit climbs; only a few GetYourGuide listings climb to the summit.
- You cannot climb Fuji any time: the trails open early July to 10 September only.
- Overnight 'bullet climbs' without a hut booking are now blocked by the 14:00 to 03:00 entry rule.
- Off-season rescue charges in Yamanashi are a plan targeted for September 2027, not current law.
- Canned oxygen is sold on the mountain but is not required.
